The Nag's Head on Rugeley Road, in an area of Burntwood known as Fulfen, is claimed by some to be one of the oldest public houses in Great Britain. Some sources date it back to the 11th Century and it may be listed in the Doomsday Book. Documentary records show it between 1775 and 1799. In the early 1800 it had a set of stocks set up close by. It is believed the Dr Samuel Johnson drank there whilst writing his dictionary.

The pub is currently operated by Spirit Group under its Chef & Brewer group. In 2007 it underwent a major refurbishment, re-opening in the October.

Proposed Burntwood StatueBurntwood Heritage Group will be holding a coffee morning on the 18th July at Chase Recretion Club 10am - 12 noon, all visitors welcome. Any one who would like to offer prizes for the tombola please contact 01543 450711 all donations will be gratefully recieved. All proceeds will go to SCAMP Sankeys Corner Arts Minor Project.

The group have released photographs of the proposed statue commissioned by Sankeys Corner Arts Miner Project.  The statue is expected to cost in excess of £50,000, and fundraising is in progress to obtain this money. All money raised so far as gone into the making of the Maquette Shown in Photograph, work in progress) and much more as to be done to realise our aim.

Donations of a minimum donation of £20 can buy a bronze plaque to fix next to statue with a name  and pit engraved. Donators of £5,000 or more can obtain a bronze replica of the statue. All donations gratefully recieved however small.
