Burntwood Burial Business Opportunity
An unusual business opportunity has come to market in Burntwood.
Working together with Burntwood Town Council, local developer K. B. Jackson and Son (Properties) Limited has created the prospective burial ground with planning permission off the new Burntwood Bypass.
The 8.5 acre burial ground just south of Burntwood has planning permission for a change of use to a burial ground with reception buildings, car parking, roadways and landscaping. It has been created to help alleviate the shortage of burial space in the area and developer and Council are now looking for an operator to take it on.
Mark Lockett who is handling the marketing of site said.
“The current owners, long established local developers have worked very closely with the local authority to ensure that this facility will be of an exceptional standard for the long term benefit of the residents of Burntwood and the surrounding areas. There is a shortage of burial grounds nationally and local authorities no longer have the means to provide burial grounds”
The site is expected fetch around £2M and has already attracted interest from national operators and private investors.
The seller’s agent Wiggins & Lockett’s has released and artists impression of the site.
This proposed development is in addition to the larger Springhill Cemetery already under construction off the Walsall Road near to Muckley Corner.

Chasetown Burila Site and Springhill Burial site on Walsall Rd. A Waheed from Walsall has purchased these burial sites and development has already commenced as all users of the Burntwood By-pass will have seen. Mr Waheed is also the developer of the Springhill Burial Site on the A461 between Barracks Lane and the BNRR bridge. Development of the Springhill site cannot commence until a new roundabout has been constructed on the A461 dual carriageway to allow safe access. The burial plots are being sold ‘off plan’ and a very large sale of £ 750,000 worth of plots at Springhill has already been made by one of Birmingham’s largest Mosques in Small Heath. Burials at Springhill were promised to commence on 1st March but this hasn’t happened as the roundabout still hasn’t been started. Once construction does commence, anyone from Burntwood who uses the A461 should watch out for congestion. Perhaps more plot sales are required to fund the construction. In the meantime, the Chasetown site with it’s complete existing permissions will allow immediate burials to commence to fill the gap. All local residents and users of the by-pass should watch out for congestion on the by-pass once the site comes into use. Also, the possibility that access may be required to ease by-pass problems through the top of the site via Pool Rd & Paviors Rd.
